Introducing the small but mighty Sonos Play 1….

Audio, smart, Technology

Sonos aims to fill every home with music and make listening a valued experience again. And now they are making it even easier for everybody to listen to the music they love in every room of their home with Play:1. Designed to sit on a shelf, on your kitchen worktop or even on a shelf in your bathroom, it’s a compact version of the hugely popular PLAY:3 and PLAY:5. Oh and you can afford it!

Sound quality is good considering the size and gets even better when paired other members of the Sonos fleet. The Play:1 is designed to be the basic building block of an entire Sonos multi-room system. From an aesthetic standpoint, the Play:1 is quite good-looking, with its curved edges wrapped in a metallic grated casing. It is not cluttered with a lot of buttons but rather is minimalist: with 2 buttons at the top (Play/Pause and Volume Control)

Setting it up is nice and straightforward and those familiar with the Sonos way of things aren’t in for any surprises. There is no technical or wireless expertise required. All you need is a WiFi network and the Sonos Controller App and you’ll be playing music all over the house in a matter of minutes.

When it comes app support, Sonos is quite amazing. Many major services are supported, including Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Cloud Player, Rdio, SiriusXM, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, Rhapsody, MOG, Slacker, and, plus plenty of neat niche services such as Wolfgang’s Vault, Songza, 7Digital, 8tracks, Murfie, batanga, aupeo!, Dar.FM and Hearts of Space. ALthough you cant get Google Music All Access, iTunes Radio, iTunes Match, and Xbox Music but the ones they do support are more than enough to get you started.
